Riding Lessons

We offer riding lessons for students of varying skill levels. Lessons focus on safe handling, proper riding techniques, and horse care. Instruction is tailored to individual needs, with emphasis on building confidence and improving skills over time. Lesson schedules and availability vary; we are currently on a waiting list for riding lessons. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please contact us with your preferred days/times, experience level, and any special requests. We will notify you when a spot becomes available.

Whether your goal is to learn to ride or to sharpen your competitive skills, at Tri-Star Farm we have a program for you. We offer private, semi-private, and group lessons for adults and children of all skill levels. Our well-behaved school horses, tack, and arena furnishings are available for your use during lessons. Many of our school horses are available for lease to help you improve your riding skills and get more time in the saddle. Some of our school horses are also our show team horses! We tailor every lesson to accommodate the rider’s particular goals, while establishing a solid foundation in the basics of riding. Hunter, Jumper, Dressage, and English and Western Pleasure riders all learn to use the balanced seat essential and appropriate for their preferred riding style.

We believe that the ‘whys’ of riding, training, and horse behavior are just as important as the ‘hows’, so theory is always an essential element of our lessons. We base our lessons and classes on the theories of classical dressage. Another essential element of our lessons is correct horsemanship. Students arrive at least half an hour before a lesson, because every student learns and practices the basic responsibilities of the equine arts, including catching, grooming, and tacking up their horse. As Ms. Kathy says, “They don’t come with the saddles on!”

We ask all riders starting with us to take at least one private evaluation lesson, so that we can help you plan your personal riding program in solo or group lessons with other riders of similar experience.

Pricing - options below are for one month of lessons, one ride per week:

Group Lessons…………...$325 monthly per person (Max 6 riders, one hour lesson per week)
Semi-Private Lesson…..$425 monthly per person (Max 3 riders, one hour lesson per week)
Private Lesson…………….$400 monthly (one 30-minute lesson per week)
Private Hour………………..$500 monthly (one hour lesson per week)

We are currently operating a waitlist for riding lessons. Please complete the form below or call 512-956-1662, and we will schedule an introductory evaluation ride as soon as a spot opens. During the evaluation we’ll review your goals and needs and begin developing a personalized riding plan. Please note: an evaluation ride is required for placement in semi‑private or group classes.
